A STAT Search Analytics commission, Hello, World (2016) is a permanent installation created for STAT's office at 704 Alexander Street in Vancouver. The Canadian company provides location-based search data for online brands and SEO agencies. The porcelain tile mural and five accompanying prints were based off of historical photographs, from the Vancouver Public Library Special Collections, that were attributed to the surrounding area of the office site. Hello, World loosely mimics the tile entryway of 598 Alexander, a since-demolished building that was documented in a 1972 photograph by Curt Lang. The phrase refers to a convention in computer programming, displayed to illustrate the basic syntax of a programming language.
